My Honest Review:
This empanadas dish is part of the Blue Apron activity entitled The Best Home Cooking from Around the World”. This activity is all about introducing people to new and amazing international flavours. This Empanadas dish from Buenos Aires, is a classic Argentinian style recipe, and it was delicious! It is important to note however , that it was quite complicated to make and was fairly time consuming to prepare. Learning new things and being challenged in the kitchen is all part of the meal kit experience so we did not mind. Overall we loved it and thought that this was a great dish from the Blue Apron culinary team!
If you do decide to try this dish, (and we hope that you do), we do recommend that you save this one for a weekend night when usually most people have a little more time up their sleeves.
The ingredients were of a very high quality and the portion size of this dish was very generous for two people. This was reassuring as we have had problems with small portion sizes from Blue Apron before. The meat was tender and I loved the addition of olives to the filling. The empanada dough was of a lovely texture and easy to use. We received eight rounds of dough and only used six for this dish, so I filled the remainders with a cheese filling.
We also absolutely adored the lovely fresh zucchini salad with herbs and yogurt on the side, it was light, and a super refreshing addition to this dish.
